Heap disclosure via Radiance repeat marker
Published Aug 20, 2026 · Updated Aug 20, 2026
Heap over-read in libvips before 8.18.3 allows local users to read adjacent heap data via a crafted Radiance image. In libvips/foreign/radiance.c, scanline_read_old accepts an old-style RLE repeat marker at the start of a scanline and then copies from q[-1] even though no prior pixel exists. Reachability requires processing attacker-supplied Radiance files through VipsForeignLoadRad with the deprecated old-style decoder path enabled, and the disclosed data is bounded to four adjacent heap bytes, most likely neighboring image data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
