Native code execution via DevTools file reveal
Published Aug 5, 2026 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Command injection in Electron allows attackers to execute native code outside the sandbox through the DevTools frontend. InspectableWebContents::ShowItemInFolder passed an attacker-selected path's parent to platform_util::OpenPath, launching that path without restricting it to a registered DevTools workspace. Exploitation requires script execution in DevTools and DevTools opened for untrusted content or an untrusted extension; the launched process escapes the renderer sandbox.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
