Unauthorized window creation via unchecked OpenURL navigation
Published Aug 5, 2026 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Sandbox restriction bypass in affected Electron releases allows remote attackers to create windows through sandboxed iframe navigation. New-window navigations on the OpenURL path omit the iframe sandbox popup restriction, so an iframe without allow-popups can open a window or invoke setWindowOpenHandler. Exposure requires an app to embed untrusted content in such an iframe and to rely on that sandbox restriction rather than denying the request in its window-open handler.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
