Memory disclosure or crash via unchecked frame geometry
Published Aug 5, 2026 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in affected Electron releases allows local users to disclose main-process memory or crash an offscreen-rendering app. OffScreenVideoConsumer::OnFrameCaptured sizes an SkBitmap from GPU-supplied content_rect without ensuring the geometry and required bytes fit coded_size and the shared-memory mapping. Reachability requires webPreferences.offscreen and prior code execution in the GPU process; the bounded outcomes are memory disclosure and an application crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=< 39.8.10
- Affected versionversion=>= 40.0.0-alpha.1, < 40.9.0
