Instance-wide stall via unbounded recurrence parsing

Published Aug 4, 2026 · Updated Aug 4, 2026

Resource consumption in Open WebUI 0.9.0 through 0.10.2 allows remote authenticated users to stall the instance via recurrence rules. The _parse_rule function synchronously enumerates decades of minutely or hourly occurrences from a fixed 2000-01-01 anchor on the shared event loop. Automation creation is admin-only by default; ordinary users gain access only when the automation feature is enabled, and the blockage halts HTTP, WebSocket, and scheduler work.
