Process crash via unbounded scale ratio
Published Aug 5, 2026 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Uncontrolled memory allocation in the scale operation in theotherphil imagecli 0.2.1 and earlier allows attackers to crash the process via a large ratio. Scale::apply in src/image_ops.rs multiplies both image dimensions by an unbounded pipeline ratio and passes the resulting sizes to DynamicImage::resize. CLI execution requires an attacker-influenced pipeline string; an unauthenticated remote crash requires a service that embeds the library and accepts that string.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
