Command execution via shell-enabled run_tests
Published Apr 25, 2026 · Updated Apr 25, 2026
Command injection in GitPilot MCP allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary shell commands through its run_tests MCP tool. The run_tests function in main.py passes the caller-controlled command string to subprocess.run with shell=True without validation or an allowlist. Reachability requires access to the enabled MCP tool interface and a valid repo_path; successful exploitation runs commands with the server process's host privileges.
