CVE-2026-6967Network attack vector

Metadata cache poisoning via incomplete delegation validation

Published Apr 24, 2026 · Updated Apr 24, 2026

Improper metadata validation in AWS tough before 0.22.0 and tuftool before 0.15.0 allows remote authenticated users to poison local caches. The load_delegations path accepts delegated targets metadata without enforcing the expiration, hash, and length checks used for top-level targets metadata. Delegated signing authority and metadata write access are required; accepted expired or otherwise invalid targets can corrupt repository trust and affect downstream systems.
