Service interruption via indefinitely parked request workers
Published Sep 1, 2026 · Updated Sep 1, 2026
Resource leak in Erlang/OTP inets httpd allows remote attackers to cause a service interrupt through malformed chunked requests. When a nonhexadecimal chunk-size line arrives after the headers, handle_info/2 converts the decoder throw into continuation state, rearms the socket, and leaves the worker waiting after its timeout was canceled. No authentication or special configuration is required; repeated connections can occupy every worker and deny legitimate requests while the sockets remain open.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
