Remote code execution via heap buffer overflow
Published Sep 8, 2026 · Updated Sep 9, 2026
Heap-based buffer overflow in Microsoft Office Word allows remote attackers to execute code when a user opens a crafted file. Microsoft has not published the affected parsing locus or the length or bounds error that permits the heap overwrite. No authentication is required, but user interaction is required; successful exploitation runs code in the user's context.
