Authenticated code execution via DNS use-after-free
Published Sep 8, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026
Use-after-free in Microsoft Windows DNS on affected Windows releases allows remote authenticated users to execute code over a network. Microsoft has not disclosed the affected function or input path; the DNS component references memory after it has been freed. Low-privileged authentication and network reachability to the DNS service are required, and successful exploitation executes attacker-controlled code.
