Remote code execution via crafted PDB processing
Published Sep 8, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026
Heap-based buffer overflow in Microsoft.DiaSymReader.Native allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted PDB file. The native symbol reader performs an out-of-bounds heap write while processing attacker-controlled PDB data. Exploitation requires a Windows application or developer tool using an affected component to process the file, granting code execution in that process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=4.8.0 <2.0.50727.9070 & 3.0.30729.9068 & 4.8.4806.0
