Local privilege escalation via use-after-free
Published Sep 8, 2026 · Updated Sep 9, 2026
Use-after-free in Microsoft Windows Remote Access Connection Manager allows local users to elevate privileges on affected releases. Microsoft has not disclosed which Connection Manager object is freed prematurely or which later operation dereferences the stale pointer. Exploitation requires prior local low-privileged access and a high-complexity memory-manipulation sequence, and success grants elevated control over the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
