CVE-2026-69320Network attack vector

Code execution via URL-supplied NODE_OPTIONS

Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026

OS command injection in Visual Studio Code before 1.132.1 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted VS Code web URL. In web deployments, attacker-supplied workbench payload values reach remote extension host and integrated terminal startup, and the terminal path accepts a client-controlled NODE_OPTIONS value that can trigger Node --import execution when a later Node-based command runs. Exploitation requires user interaction to open the malicious URL, and the resulting code runs in the victim's VS Code context.
