Server hang via negative WebSocket frame length
Published Sep 15, 2026 · Updated Sep 15, 2026
Denial of service in http4s before 0.23.35 allows remote attackers to hang Ember servers via a crafted WebSocket frame. After a WebSocket handshake, FrameTranscoder.bodyLength accepts a negative 64-bit extended payload length, so decoding returns an empty frame without consuming input. The stalled loop pins a worker at full CPU and grows an ArrayBuffer without bound; 1.0.0-M1 through 1.0.0-M46 is also affected.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
