Unauthenticated service interruption via quadratic header parsing
Published Aug 7, 2026 · Updated Aug 7, 2026
Regular expression denial of service in Hono before 4.12.34 allows remote attackers to interrupt service via crafted preflight requests. The CORS middleware splits Access-Control-Request-Headers with a whitespace-tolerant regular expression whose backtracking is quadratic on long whitespace runs. No authentication or user interaction is required, but the path is reachable only when cors() uses an unset or empty allowHeaders; repeated requests can stall concurrent processing.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
