Process crash via stale-pointer icon assignment
Published Oct 13, 2026 · Updated Oct 13, 2026
Use-after-free in KeePassXC before 2.8.0-beta1 allows attackers to crash the process by importing a crafted KeePass1 KDB file. KeePass1Reader deletes metastream entries without removing their pointers from m_entryUuids, so parseCustomIcons4() calls Entry::setIcon through a freed pointer. Import requires a matching password; the confirmed effects are a controlled heap write, a process crash, and loss of unsaved changes, not demonstrated code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
