Private data disclosure via Vary wildcard caching
Published May 5, 2026 · Updated May 5, 2026
Information disclosure in Django 5.2 before 5.2.14 and 6.0 before 6.0.5 allows remote attackers to receive private cached data. UpdateCacheMiddleware fails to stop caching when a response's Vary header contains an asterisk, so user-specific response content enters a shared cache. Exposure requires the cache middleware and a Vary: * response; a later request can then receive content cached from another response.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=5.2 <5.2.14
