CVE-2026-6892

Permission modification via installer symlink following

Published May 29, 2026 · Updated May 29, 2026

Symlink following in Canon CUPS Printer Driver installers 16.91.0.0 and earlier allows local users to modify protected permissions. The macOS installer follows a specially crafted symbolic link while changing file or directory permissions, redirecting that operation to an attacker-selected protected path. Exploitation requires local login access and an installation run while the crafted link is present; reported impact is limited to unauthorized permission changes.
