Local code execution via heap buffer overflow
Published Sep 8, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026
Heap-based buffer overflow in Microsoft Windows Storage Spaces Controller allows local users to execute code on affected systems. Microsoft has not published the controller routine, input path, or unchecked operation that overruns the heap allocation. Exploitation requires low-privilege local access and no user interaction; successful corruption permits code execution in the vulnerable component.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
