CVE-2026-68803

Local code execution via type confusion

Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026

Type confusion in Microsoft Office Excel in supported Office releases allows attackers to execute code locally via untrusted content. Microsoft has not disclosed the affected function or parser, only that Excel accesses a resource as an incompatible type while processing attacker-controlled data. Reachability requires user interaction in a local execution context, such as opening hostile Excel content or invoking a vulnerable Excel-based server workflow, and successful exploitation runs with the privileges of the hosting user or Office service.
