Code execution via local-model trust-gate bypass
Published Jul 31, 2026 · Updated Jul 31, 2026
Code injection in Hugging Face Sentence Transformers 5.5.1 and earlier allows attackers to execute Python code from a crafted local model. import_module_class treats any existing model path as trusted and dynamically imports modules.json-referenced Python even when trust_remote_code is false. An attacker must influence a model directory that an application later loads; the imported code runs with that application's process privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
