Heap overwrite or client crash via packet sizing

Published Aug 2, 2026 · Updated Aug 2, 2026

Integer overflow in FreeRDP before 3.29.0 allows remote attackers to corrupt client memory or interrupt audio via crafted audin packets. The ALSA, sndio, WinMM, and OpenSL ES SetFormat backends accept server-controlled FramesPerPacket values and calculate allocation sizes with narrow arithmetic that wraps. A user must connect with microphone redirection to a malicious or compromised RDP server; ALSA permits heap overwrite, while the other affected backends disrupt audio or crash.
