Process crash via delayed property-name length enforcement
Published Oct 16, 2026 · Updated Oct 16, 2026
Memory exhaustion in FasterXML Jackson Core's ReaderBasedJsonParser allows remote attackers to crash processes via long JSON property names. Its _parseName2() method grows TextBuffer segments under the string-value limit and checks maxNameLength only after buffering the complete name. Applications must parse untrusted String, Reader, or char[] input; no authentication or user interaction is required, and concurrent requests exhaust the heap under default constraints, while UTF-8 byte-input parsers are unaffected.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
