Root code execution via injected environment variables

Published Sep 14, 2026 · Updated Sep 14, 2026

Static code injection in WebPros Plesk Ruby before 1.6.6 and Node.js Toolkit before 2.5.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute code as root. The extensions incorporate user-controlled custom environment-variable values into generated application configuration without safely neutralizing them as static code. Exploitation requires authenticated permission to manage an affected application and results in root-level server compromise.
