CVE-2026-68476Network attack vector

Remote kernel compromise via stale IPVS header

Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026

Use-after-free in Linux kernel IPVS 4.10 and later allows remote attackers to corrupt kernel memory via packets to a configured VIP. In ip_vs_bypass_xmit(), skb_ensure_writable() can reallocate and free the packet head, but ip_send_check() then reads and writes through the stale IP-header pointer. Exploitation requires cache_bypass on a fwmark service without a backend and can disclose freed memory, corrupt the kernel heap, or cause an oops, panic, or hang.
