Resource exhaustion via unreleased memory region
Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026
Resource leakage in the Linux kernel sunxi reset driver from 3.14 leaves a reserved memory region allocated when device initialization fails. In sunxi_reset_init(), a failed ioremap() path frees its data structure without releasing the region previously acquired by request_mem_region(). The condition arises during reset-controller initialization on systems using the sunxi driver; published sources identify resource exhaustion but no attacker-controlled trigger.
