Kernel memory disclosure and crash via malformed frames
Published Aug 15, 2026 · Updated Aug 15, 2026
Improper frame validation in Linux mac80211 5.10 through 7.1.4 allows physically proximate attackers to disclose memory or crash the kernel. The RX path dispatches unsupported extension subtypes into helpers that read regular 802.11 address fields, and short S1G beacons can drive out-of-bounds reads or writes before complete fixed-header validation. Exploitation requires radio-range injection of malformed 802.11 extension frames into a reachable Wi-Fi interface; consequences are bounded to adjacent kernel memory exposure, memory corruption, or a kernel panic.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
