Kernel memory corruption via unchecked token length
Published Aug 13, 2026 · Updated Aug 13, 2026
Heap overflow in the Linux s390 zcrypt driver allows local users to corrupt kernel memory through a crafted CCA AES cipher key token. cca_cipher2protkey() trusts the token len field as memcpy()'s length into a 512-byte CPRB parameter block, permitting writes about 7.6 KB beyond the allocation. Any local user able to open world-writable /dev/pkey can trigger the overflow without crypto-card interaction, enabling kernel-memory disclosure, control-flow corruption, or a panic.
