CVE-2026-68414

System crash via cfg80211 workqueue use-after-free

Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026

Use-after-free in the Linux cfg80211 subsystem allows physically proximate attackers to crash the system via crafted Wi-Fi frames. wiphy_unregister() fails to cancel sched_scan_res_wk, allowing its callback to lock and traverse cfg80211_registered_device state after cfg80211_dev_free() releases it. A scheduled scan must be active while result notification work races with Wi-Fi device teardown; the confirmed consequence is a kernel fault that can interrupt the system.
