CVE-2026-68405

Kernel warning via TXSKB free under IRQ lock

Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026

Concurrency error in Linux mac80211 allows attackers to trigger a kernel warning during AP_VLAN interface shutdown. ieee80211_do_stop() unlinks matching packets from the parent ps->bc_buf under its IRQ-disabling lock, then calls ieee80211_free_txskb(), whose TX-status reporting path can reach netlink transmission before the lock is released. The path requires a multicast management SKB with TX-status state to be queued while the AP_VLAN interface stops; the published record establishes a kernel warning, not code execution or data access.
