Kernel memory corruption via uncapped transmit credits
Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in the Linux io_edgeport USB serial driver allows physically proximate attackers to corrupt kernel memory. edge_interrupt_callback() adds a device-supplied 16-bit credit count to txCredits without capping it at maxTxCredits, so edge_write() can overrun its maxTxCredits-sized FIFO. Exploitation requires a connected malicious or nonconforming USB Edgeport device and can crash the kernel or corrupt kernel memory.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
