Local system crash via probe teardown race
Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux's corsair-cpro hwmon driver allows local users to crash affected kernels during a failed device probe. The probe error path calls hid_hw_stop() without first stopping device I/O, allowing hid_input_report() to race with teardown and access freed driver state. Reachability requires Corsair Commander Pro hardware, the corsair_cpro module, and a probe failure after device I/O starts; the bounded reported impact is a local system crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
