Kernel memory corruption via probe-time use-after-free
Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
A use-after-free in the Linux kernel nzxt-smart2 driver allows attackers to corrupt kernel memory during a failed device probe. The probe error path calls hid_hw_stop() without first calling hid_device_io_stop(), leaving hid_input_report() able to race with teardown. Reachability requires a supported NZXT controller and a probe failure after device I/O starts; the CNA does not define a reliable attacker-controlled trigger.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
