Service interruption via malformed ACPI mute response
Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Improper input validation in Linux kernel 6.7 allows local users to interrupt service via a malformed ACPI _DSM mute response. cs35l41_get_acpi_mute_state() neither validates the returned object's buffer type and length before dereferencing its first byte nor frees the caller-owned object after successful queries. Reachability requires Cirrus Logic cs35l41 speaker hardware on an HDA ACPI platform and a malformed firmware response; systems without that codec hardware are unaffected.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
