CVE-2026-68343Network attack vector

Kernel-memory disclosure via oversized DFS PathConsumed

Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in the Linux SMB client allows remote attackers to disclose kernel memory via a malformed DFS referral. The parse_dfs_referrals() function stores an unchecked PathConsumed value, letting later DFS parsing advance beyond the search-name buffer and copy adjacent heap data. A malicious SMB server or man-in-the-middle attacker can supply the referral during an automatic client mount, causing disclosure or a kernel crash.
