System crash via short Realtek Bluetooth event
Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in the Linux kernel Bluetooth btusb driver allows local users to crash systems through short Realtek vendor events. The btusb_recv_event_realtek() function reads data[2] without first requiring an HCI header and parameter, so a two-byte ff 00 event can consume adjacent memory as a subevent. Exploitation requires a Realtek USB Bluetooth adapter and local low-privileged access; misclassification as a coredump can crash the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
