Local denial of service via reference leak
Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Resource leak in Linux dpaa2-eth allows local users to exhaust device references through repeated MAC disconnects. The disconnect path frees the dpaa2_mac object without calling put_device() for mac->mc_dev, retaining the reference acquired by fsl_mc_get_endpoint(). Exploitation requires NXP DPAA2 Ethernet hardware and repeated connect-disconnect cycles; accumulated references can exhaust resources and interrupt the system.
