Memory corruption via ACPI HID map overflow
Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in Linux 4.7 and affected later revisions allows local users to corrupt memory via excessive ivrs_acpihid parameters. The early parser appends a fifth HID and UID entry to the fixed four-element early_acpihid_map array because it increments the count without checking capacity. Exploitation requires a boot configuration with more than four entries; the overwrite can crash the system or execute code in kernel context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
