Kernel memory corruption via oversized SCTP chunk list
Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in the Linux kernel SCTP authentication path allows local users to corrupt kernel memory through crafted chunk lists. sctp_auth_ep_add_chunkid permits 20 entries, but sctp_association_init copies them into the 16-entry auth_chunks field in struct sctp_cookie. Reachability requires local low-privileged access, and published sources establish no code execution, privilege escalation, or reliable service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
