Authenticated file deletion via unvalidated session path
Published Apr 21, 2026 · Updated Apr 21, 2026
Path traversal in Hermes WebUI before 0.50.32 allows remote authenticated users to delete writable JSON files through the session deletion API. The /api/session/delete handler appends .json to an unvalidated session_id, and pathlib discards SESSION_DIR for an absolute path before unlink() runs. Password-protected deployments require a valid session, and remote reachability requires network exposure; impact is limited to JSON files writable by the server process.
