System hang via reset-remove lock-order deadlock
Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Deadlock in the pds_core driver in Linux 6.8.7 through 6.9 allows attackers to hang the system during concurrent PCI reset and removal. The reset worker blocks on device_lock while pdsc_remove(), already holding that lock, waits in destroy_workqueue() for the worker to finish. Reaching the condition requires an AMD/Pensando DSC adapter and overlapping reset work with PCI driver removal; no remote path is reported.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
