Local kernel compromise via retry counter overflow
Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in the Linux kernel's Intel Xe page-table code allows local users to corrupt kernel memory through the VM_BIND ioctl. xe_pt_update_ops_init() leaves current_op unchanged across lock-contention or OOM retries, so bind_op_prepare() advances past the allocated operations array and corrupts adjacent SLUB memory. Access to an Intel Xe render node is required; an unprivileged process can panic the kernel or groom the use-after-free for privilege escalation.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
