CVE-2026-68256

Local denial of service via sink reference leak

Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026

Resource leak in AMD display link detection in the Linux kernel allows local users to exhaust kernel memory via DisplayPort alternate-mode timeouts. The detect_link_and_local_sink function retains prev_sink at entry but returns on the timeout path without releasing that reference. Repeated access requires the affected AMD display path and consumes kernel memory, limiting the reported consequence to availability.
