System crash via unvalidated EDID refresh rate
Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Divide-by-zero in the Linux kernel's i915 VRR code allows local users to crash affected systems through a crafted display EDID. intel_vrr_compute_vmax() uses the EDID-supplied minimum vertical refresh rate as a divisor without first rejecting a zero value. Reachability requires Intel i915 graphics with VRR and a malformed EDID; systems without Intel graphics or VRR are unaffected.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
