Kernel memory corruption via late streams bounds check
Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
An out-of-bounds write in affected Linux kernel releases allows local users to corrupt kernel memory through Intel i915 HDCP stream handling. The HDCP stream enumeration path in drivers/gpu/drm/i915/display/intel_hdcp.c writes to data->streams[] before checking the array bound. Reachability requires the Intel i915 HDCP display path; the overwrite can destabilize or crash the system.
