CVE-2026-68247

Service interruption via unchecked panel_type2 index

Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in affected Linux kernel 6.0 and later builds allows local users to interrupt service during i915 BIOS parsing. In drivers/gpu/drm/i915/display/intel_bios.c, vbt_get_panel_type returns an LFP2 panel_type2 value without validating the 0–15 index range or 0xff PNP sentinel. Exposure requires Intel i915 graphics and an LFP2 entry; an invalid index can select the wrong panel type, read beyond the table, and destabilize display or system operation.
