Kernel crash via fatal gfx11 assertions
Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Denial of service in Linux kernel branches before 6.6.148, 6.12.101, 6.18.42, and 7.1.6 allows local users to crash the kernel. The affected gfx11 ring-emission paths invoke BUG_ON for misaligned GPU addresses and an unexpected 64-bit KIQ fence flag, turning recoverable states into fatal kernel assertions. Reachability requires local low-privileged access and an AMD GPU using the gfx11 driver; the bounded consequence is a host crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
