CVE-2026-68243

Local system crash via invalid i915 engine slot

Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026

NULL pointer dereference in drm/i915/gem in affected Linux kernel versions allows local users to crash systems via crafted context parameters. The set_proto_ctx_sseu function dereferences an engine pointer without first rejecting an invalid-class slot whose engine value is NULL. A local user on a system with Intel i915 graphics can trigger a kernel crash; systems without Intel graphics are unaffected.
