CVE-2026-68241

System hang via unbounded MST interrupt servicing

Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026

Denial of service in Linux 5.8 and later allows physically proximate attackers to hang systems through a DisplayPort MST sink. The intel_dp_check_mst_status() function services new sink interrupts without bounding the ESI retry loop, so a sink that keeps asserting interrupts prevents the handler from completing. Reachability requires an i915-driven DisplayPort MST connection to a malicious or faulty sink, and the documented consequence is system unresponsiveness.
